What is the difference between a digital converter and a DTA?

A digital converter (sometimes known as a digital set-top box or digital receiver) processes digital-quality signals and offers access to On Demand programming, Pay-Per-View content, the on-screen channel guide, and over 50 commercial-free music channels as well as all channel tiers, including premium channels such as HBO/Cinemax, Showtime and Starz/Encore.

A digital transport adapter (DTA) also provides digital-quality signals for your channels, plus over 50 commercial-free music channels and on-screen channel guide, however does not provide access to On Demand programming, Pay-Per-View content, and premium channels.
