What is the difference between a Digital Converter and a DTA?

A digital converter (sometimes known as a digital set-top box or digital receiver) processes digital-quality signals and offers access to On Demand programming,  Pay-Per-View content, the on-screen channel guide, and over 50 commercial-free music channels.  All channel tiers, as well as premium channels such as HBO/Cinemax, Showtime and Starz/Encore require a digital converter.

A digital transport adapter (DTA) also provides digital-quality signals for Local Advantage and Classic Cable® channels, plus over 50 commercial-free music channels, however does not provide access to On Demand programming, Pay-Per-View content, the on-screen channel guide and premium channels.
